Brigadier General John Creel

Brig. Gen. John B. Creel is the Deputy Commander, Air Forces Southern, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona. As the Air Force component to U.S. Southern Command, Air Forces Southern conducts security cooperation and provides air, space and cyberspace capabilities throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.

Brig. Gen. Creel began his military career in 1985 as an enlisted helicopter mechanic in the Army. He then attended helicopter flight training and flew the UH-60 Black Hawk as a warrant officer. After 15 years, he separated from the Army, joined the Air Force, and graduated Officer Training School in 2000. He has held positions at the squadron, group, wing, deployed Joint Force Command and Combatant Command levels. Brig. Gen. Creel’s operational tours include operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Joint Endeavor, Joint Guard, Northern Watch, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. He holds an undergraduate degree in professional aeronautics and two graduate degrees in Business Aviation from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and a third graduate degree in Strategic Studies from the Marine Corps War College. Prior to his current position, Brig. Gen. Creel served as the Senior Special Assistant to the Commander of United States European Command and the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Brussels, Belgium.
 

Group Captain (Res.) James Beldon

Group Captain (Res.) James Beldon

As an active service Royal Air Force officer, Group Captain Jim Beldon acquired over 3,000 flying hours on the E-3D Sentry, serving on operations in the Balkans, Iraq, Afghanistan and across the globe. He commanded 8 Squadron (AWACS) from 2012 to 2014 before serving in Defence Communications at the Ministry of Defence and as the RAF’s Director of Defence Studies. In 2020, he served in Baghdad as NATO Mission Iraq’s Senior Policy and Strategy Advisor to the Iraqi Ministry of Defence. He served as the Deputy Commander of the RAF’s ISTAR Force between 2021 and 2023 before leaving regular service and assuming a part-time Reservist role as a Group Captain in the UK’s Strategic Command. In civilian life, Jim serves as the senior Airborne ISR Consultant to Leidos Innovations UK.

Major David Prangley

Major Dave “Geordie” Prangley is an Air Combat Systems Officer with over 35 years of Airborne ISR experience. He has operationally qualified on 4 different ISR platforms including the Nimrod MR2, Nimrod R1, CP140M Aurora and most recently the P-8A Poseidon. He has completed multiple ISR deployments around the globe, including the Middle East, Mediterranean, North Atlantic, Caribbean, Pacific and in Canada’s Arctic Region. Following his recent return from a three-year Operational Test and Evaluation exchange tour with the US Navy, he is now the lead for operational integration of the CP8A Poseidon into RCAF operations.

Major General Andreas Korb

Major General Andreas Korb is the Commander of the NATO Airborne Early Warning and Control Force in Geilenkirchen,
Germany. Prior to this assignment, he was the Director for Aviation Satefy of the Bundeswehr, Cologne.

Major General Korb completed his pilot training at Euro NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training, Sheppard AFB, USA and at Fighter
Bomber Wing 49, Fürstenfeldbruck, and his TORNADO Weapon System Training at Cottesmore, GBR and at Fighter
Bomber Wing 38, Jever. He served as a TORNADO Pilot at Naval Air Wing 2, Eggebek and as a TORNADO Pilot and
Operations Offi cer at Fighter Bomber Wing 31 “B”, Nörvenich.

Major General Korb has commanded the Flying Group at Fighter Bomber Wing 31 “B”, Nörvenich and was Wing
Commander at the Tactical Air Wing 33, Büchel. He deployed to Afghanistan, where he was Chief Civil Aviation Transition
Branch, HQ ISAF, Kabul.

Additionally, he held various staff positions including Assistant Branch Chief for Air Force Operations at the Ministry of
Defense (MoD), Bonn/Berlin, Executive Offi cer, Public Relations Offi cer und Operational Expert at the NATO Alliance
Ground Surveillance Management Agency, Brussels, ACOS Air Force Operations, Air Force Headquarters, and Branch
Chief Strategy & Operations II 3 (Mahgreb/Middle East) at the MoD, Berlin.

Major General Andreas Korb was born on 09 June 1964 in Rhede, Germany. He is married and has two children. He has
logged more than 2.300 fl ying hours, mainly on the TORNADO.

Major Tonis Parn

Major Tonis Parn

Major Tõnis Pärn was born in Tartu, Estonia, in Tallinn on the 30th of May 1987. After graduating from high school and completion of conscript service, he entered the Military Academy in Tartu.
Following graduation in 2011, he joined the Air Force in Command and Reporting Post Ämari as Fighter Controller. He has served in several assignments in the Air Force including Commander of the Control and Reporting Centre Karmelava, Lithuania. He has done two tours in Iceland Air Policing mission with US Air Force. Major Tõnis Pärn is currently serving as the Commander of the Air Surveillance Wing in the Estonian Air Force.

Mr. Andrew Evans

Mr. Andrew Evans entered the Senior Executive Service in August 2023 as the Director of the Army ISR Task Force under the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-2. He oversees an organization missioned to manage modernization efforts across the Army's Intelligence and Security Enterprise. Mr. Evans also leads Global Force Management activities for the Army’s Aerial ISR portfolio, including oversight of a $1.4 Billion MDEP supporting manned and unmanned assets across the Total Force. Mr. Evans holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Furman University, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Phoenix University, and a certificate in Advanced Management from Harvard Business School.

Mr. Crescenzo Esposito

Mr. Crescenzo Esposito

Crescenzo Esposito is the Uncrewed Aerial Systems Branch Chief
and MQ-9 Project Executive Officer at the NATO Support and
Procurement Agency (NSPA).
A retired Colonel of the Italian Air Force, he brings over 15 years of
experience in UAS lifecycle management, airworthiness
certification, and multinational program leadership. His notable
contributions include roles in the F-35 Joint Program Office and the
NATO Alliance Ground Surveillance (AGS) programme.
Crescenzo holds an Executive MBA, a Masters in Electronic
Engineering, and is a certified Experimental Flight Test Engineer,
graduated from the U.S. Air Force (USAF) Test Pilot School (05B).
He is fluent in Italian and English.

WHAT IS CPD?

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development’. It is essentially a philosophy, which maintains that in order to be effective, learning should be organised and structured. The most common definition is:

‘A commitment to structured skills and knowledge enhancement for Personal or Professional competence’

CPD is a common requirement of individual membership with professional bodies and Institutes. Increasingly, employers also expect their staff to undertake regular CPD activities.

Undertaken over a period of time, CPD ensures that educational qualifications do not become obsolete, and allows for best practice and professional standards to be upheld.

CPD can be undertaken through a variety of learning activities including instructor led training courses, seminars and conferences, e:learning modules or structured reading.

CPD AND PROFESSIONAL INSTITUTES

There are approximately 470 institutes in the UK across all industry sectors, with a collective membership of circa 4 million professionals, and they all expect their members to undertake CPD.

For some institutes undertaking CPD is mandatory e.g. accountancy and law, and linked to a licence to practice, for others it’s obligatory. By ensuring that their members undertake CPD, the professional bodies seek to ensure that professional standards, legislative awareness and ethical practices are maintained.

CPD Schemes often run over the period of a year and the institutes generally provide online tools for their members to record and reflect on their CPD activities.

TYPICAL CPD SCHEMES AND RECORDING OF CPD (CPD points and hours)

Professional bodies and Institutes CPD schemes are either structured as ‘Input’ or ‘Output’ based.

‘Input’ based schemes list a precise number of CPD hours that individuals must achieve within a given time period. These schemes can also use different ‘currencies’ such as points, merits, units or credits, where an individual must accumulate the number required. These currencies are usually based on time i.e. 1 CPD point = 1 hour of learning.

‘Output’ based schemes are learner centred. They require individuals to set learning goals that align to professional competencies, or personal development objectives. These schemes also list different ways to achieve the learning goals e.g. training courses, seminars or e:learning, which enables an individual to complete their CPD through their preferred mode of learning.

The majority of Input and Output based schemes actively encourage individuals to seek appropriate CPD activities independently.

As a formal provider of CPD certified activities, SAE Media Group can provide an indication of the learning benefit gained and the typical completion. However, it is ultimately the responsibility of the delegate to evaluate their learning, and record it correctly in line with their professional body’s or employers requirements.

GLOBAL CPD

Increasingly, international and emerging markets are ‘professionalising’ their workforces and looking to the UK to benchmark educational standards. The undertaking of CPD is now increasingly expected of any individual employed within today’s global marketplace.
