As one of the latest innovations in aviation and transportation technology, eVTOLs are instrumental in a new movement toward Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), both in their operational usage for passenger movement, as well as cargo transport between urban, suburban and rural areas. With the potential to encompass the future of vertical flight, eVTOLs represent the next frontier in air travel, and as such, it is crucial to bring together the AAM community to discuss the latest developments and opportunities in the field, and contribute towards the safe and efficient integration of future eVTOLs.

Drawing on knowledge shared by leading eVTOL experts from key US, and International organizations, eVTOL Technology USA will facilitate fruitful discussions on eVTOL priorities, challenges and solutions in its entirety, offering a truly holistic agenda with a wide-range of presentations seeking to enable the community to access the latest design, innovation and certification developments in the sector.

This conference will be a catalyst to furthering these internationally important topics, promoting dedicated discussions, networking and passing knowledge to enhance the approach, analysis, and solutions to enable the safe integration of eVTOLs in the US and International airspace.

Adam Rhodes

Adam Rhodes began his aviation career in 1998 as an Air Traffic Controller in the United States Marine Corps. Following his service, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics with minors in Safety and Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Adam has worked at multiple air traffic control facilities, including Houston Hobby Tower and Houston TRACON. Currently, as the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) Representative for NextGen, Adam plays a crucial role in integrating controller-based perspectives into FAA research and development. His collaborative approach ensures effective communication between controllers and researchers, bridging the gap in advancing aviation technologies.

Alan Paterno

Alan Paterno

Alan Paterno was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA; he attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Science. Along with his degree, Alan earned a Commercial Pilots license in both single and multi-engine aircraft and is instrument rated.
After graduation, Alan began a career with United Airlines where he worked as an agent, load master, and later in supervisory positions in both Customer Service and Air Freight. Alan served on the Crisis Response Team that responded to the crash site of UA Flt 93 in Somerset County, PA. He assisted in the command post set-up for United Airlines, FBI and the NTSB, as well as distressed family members. Following 911, Alan became the Security Operations Manager for United Airlines at Washington Dulles International Airport. He provided direct oversight to the private contractors that were in place and managed the multitude of changes that occurred in regulation following September 11. He served as security chairman for the Washington Dulles Airport Airlines Management Council and later transitioned to the Transportation Security Administration.
While at TSA, Alan has worked in screening, compliance, intelligence and policy development. He currently serves as the Director for Plans and Engagement within the office of Policy, Plans and Engagement at TSA. His varied experiences provide him the perspective needed to be effective in his current position working with airports and associations.

Chris Rocheleau

Christopher J. Rocheleau serves as the association’s chief operating officer, overseeing NBAA’s activities relating to aircraft and flight department operations, as well as the administrative, financial and human resources functions.
Prior to joining NBAA, Rocheleau served the FAA with distinction for over 20 years in multiple roles including acting associate administrator for aviation safety, chief of staff, assistant administrator for policy, international affairs and environment, as well as the executive director for international affairs. He has an extensive background in aviation safety and innovation.
Rocheleau holds a bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut State University and a Master of Public Administration from City University of Seattle. He has completed the Executive National Security Program at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, and the Corporate Aviation Program at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.

Christopher Oswald

Chris Oswald is the Senior Vice President for Safety and Regulatory Affairs at ACI-NA. In this role, he has primary responsibility for ACI-NA's activities in safety, capacity, operations, design and other airport technical and regulatory issues. He advocates for airport operator interests in airport technical and regulatory forums in the U.S., Canada, and internationally and—with the support and involvement of ACI-NA member airports—develops best practices, policy positions, and technical guidance for the North American airport community.
Oswald has over 30 years of experience in the airport industry, both with ACI-NA and airport consulting firms where he specialized on provided airspace, airfield, and master planning.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, California and a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

She is the CEO & Founder of P3 Tech Consulting and an internationally recognized expert on emerging technologies law and policy, featured in CNN, Forbes and Newsweek and on the Public Broadcasting Service television network (show host Emmy-nominated series). Her Dawn of Autonomy podcast was recognized as one of the “Top 7 Drone Podcasts 2024 (The Drone Girl) and the “Best Drone Podcast of the Year 2023” (The Droning Company). She has also been recognized by the Great Companies in the consulting category for the 6th International Women Entrepreneur 2024 Awards. Colonel Charles “Tron” McMullen is the Deputy Director, Global Reach Programs, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Arlington, Virginia. Col McMullen is responsible to the Air Force Acquisition Executive for the $8 billion airlift, air refueling, training and special operations program portfolio, which includes the KC-46, Presidential Airlift Replacement, Combat Rescue Helicopter, T-7, C-5, C-17, KC-10, KC-135, C-130, CV-22, HH-60, LAIRCM, CNS/ATM, OSA/VIPSAM, T-1, T-38 and T-6. His previous assignment was as Professor of Aerospace Studies and Commander of Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 005 at Auburn University.
Colonel McMullen received his commission as an AFROTC Distinguished Graduate from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics. He received the Flying Training Award at Helicopter Undergraduate Pilot Training. After two operational assignments he attended the United States Naval Test Pilot School and transitioned to the Acquisition Workforce. He served in a variety of flying positions in Air Combat Command as an HH-60G Rescue Pilot Flight Examiner and in Air Force Material Command as a CV-22 Test Pilot Flight Examiner. He also served on the Air Staff as a Program Element Monitor and Deputy Division Chief.
As a Command Pilot with over 2,300 flight hours in over 20 different aircraft, Col McMullen deployed seven times in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and Operation IRAQI FREEDOM that resulted in flying 491 combat hours and conducting over 160 career “saves” from personnel recovery missions in combat.

With a background spanning the United States Air Force and the Federal Aviation Administration, David brings extensive experience in military, civil, and government aviation. He led AAM integration efforts at the FAA and managed aircraft fleet operations for air medical charter operators. David holds a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Technical Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, FAA Inspector Authorization, FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) licenses and is a private pilot.

Dianna Davis-Small

Dianna Davis-Small is the Acting Director of the Strategy Division within the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Office of Strategy, Policy Coordination, and Innovation. In this leadership role, she drives agency-wide strategic planning initiatives that are crucial to enhancing TSA’s ability to fulfill its mission and achieve its strategic objectives.


Ms. Davis-Small also oversees the creation, coordination, and updates of TSA’s key strategic documents, including the TSA Strategy, Administrator’s Intent, and TSA Roadmaps. She is currently spearheading the development of TSA’s Advanced Aviation Systems Roadmap, which outlines a strategic approach to securely integrating both autonomous and non-autonomous technological advancements into the aviation sector.
As TSA’s Transportation Systems Sector Coordinator, Ms. Davis-Small manages TSA’s responsibilities as a Co-Sector Risk Management Agency within the Transportation Systems Sector, one of 16 critical infrastructure sectors. She collaborates closely with the Department of Transportation and the U.S. Coast Guard to strengthen cross-sector awareness and address interdependencies and risks.


Ms. Davis-Small holds a Master of Science in Joint Campaign Planning & Strategy from the Joint Forces Staff College at the Department of Defense’s National Defense University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Aviation Administration from Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois, and is an alumna of the Executive Leaders Program at the Center for Homeland Defense and Security, Naval Postgraduate School.

Don Berchoff is the CEO of TruWeather Solutions, a micro-weather analytics company that is building weather resiliency into UAS and e-VTOLs operations. A highly successful military leader and business entrepreneur, Don has 40 years-experience in weather, aviation and logistics, during which he designed and led regional and global aviation weather operations centers, co-authored the FAA NEXGEN Weather CONOPS and led all ground operations at Manas Air Base, Kyrgyzstan (2007-2008.) As a Senior Executive Service member, he led the NWS Science and Technology Directorate (2008-2012) and was responsible for the transition of over $500M in new S&T infrastructure and software applications into NOAA operations.

A world expert in complex weather and operations systems, Don is influencing and leading the development of new international aviation weather standards. He has set the stage for a new public/private partnership business model to accelerate the transformation of the weather industry by driving better micro-weather and micro-climate measurements and predictions into society. All at a time when the world has become ever more sensitive to weather and climate changes.

Ed Wegel is a seasoned airline executive with 40 years of experience in airline financing, operations and aircraft certification. Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in several groundbreaking initiatives that have shaped the U.S. aviation industry having introduced several new aircraft types into service in the U.S. market, including the BAe J41, the Embraer E-145, and the Airbus A321 freighter.
He has led FAA certifications for three U.S. Part 135 airlines and two U.S. Part 121 carriers, including the 2014 certification of Eastern Air Lines' 737-800 fleet within a record-breaking eight months. In 2020, amid the pandemic, he led as Chairman and CEO the U.S. 121 flag carrier certifications, including EASA, IATA/IOSA and Department of Defense, of Global Crossing Airlines, which now operates 18 A320 family aircraft and is the fastest growing charter airline in the U.S. Additionally, Wegel has raised more than $2 billion in debt and equity for numerous aviation ventures and acquisitions and let the successful privatization of Trinidad and Tobago's national carrier, BWIA in 1995 He was also instrumental in the creation of Republic Airways, the second largest U.S. regional airline in 1998.
Continuing to shape the future of aviation, Wegel is the founder and chairman of UrbanLink Air Mobility, a South Florida-based advanced air mobility (AAM) operator dedicated to revolutionizing urban transportation through all-electric, zero emission air mobility solutions. In May, UrbanLink announced its partnership with Lilium, developer of the first eVTOL jet, to purchase 20 Lilium Jets. The company is also collaborating with established vertiport developers to build a robust support network for AAM operations. With entry into service expected by Summer 2026, UrbanLink is poised to be the first airline in the U.S. to integrate electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft into its fleet. Concurrently, Wegel leads Zoom!, a new start up Airbus A220 scheduled airline.
Wegel graduated from the United States Military Academy with a BS in Engineering and received his MBA with distinction in finance from the University of Colorado. Greg Bowles

Greg Bowles

Greg brings nearly two decades of aviation regulation and policy experience to Joby Aviation as Head of Government Policy. He came to Joby from the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) where he championed modern regulatory reforms, paving the way for a new form of daily air mobility. Greg held several leadership roles at GAMA including VP of Global Innovation and Policy and Director of European Affairs and Engineering. He is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and an accomplished commercial airplane and helicopter pilot.

Greg Campbell was named Director of the Virginia Department of Aviation (DOAV) effective Feb. 14, 2022. Prior to his appointment by Gov. Glenn Youngkin, Greg was the Executive Director of the Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport (SHD), a position he held for 30 years.
As DOAV Director, Greg oversees a team of 35 professionals who grow local communities through economic development; serve the 65 public-use airports across the Commonwealth; meet the transportation needs of Virginians; assist in workforce development; and support the $22.9 billion aviation industry in Virginia.
In addition to his daily responsibilities, Greg serves on board of the Governor’s Aerospace Advisory Council; the Virginia Commercial Space Flight Authority; the Virginia Resources Authority; the Washington Airports Task Force; the Virginia Small Aircraft Transportation Systems Lab; and the Virginia Aeronautical Historical Society.
Greg is a certified member of the American Association of Airport Executives and a past president of the Virginia Airport Operators’ Council. He is a past president of the Greater Augusta Regional Chamber of Commerce; former chairman of the Shenandoah Valley Partnership; and recently served as a board member on Go Virginia Region 8.
Greg was named Airport Manager of the Year in 1996, and was selected as Aviation Person of the Year in 2012. He received the James Madison University Public Servant Award in 2013. Greg earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Bridgewater College.

Mr. Antonucci is a senior staff member for Congressman Jeff Van Drew, who serves as Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. A South Jersey native, Haddon works closely with the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center and many other stakeholders on aviation policy through the FAA Reauthorization. Haddon’s work improves governmental technology integration by reforming organizational structures, policies, programs, and budgets.

James Foltz is currently the Deputy Director (Acting) of the Policy & Standards Division in the FAA’s Aircraft Certification Service (AIR).
In March 2024, James was named the Deputy Director of the AIR Compliance and Airworthiness Division (AIR-700), after years of serving in various AIR leadership roles. Previously, James served as Co-Manager of the Technical Policy Branch (AIR-620), overseeing the development and implementation of regulations and policy for all aeronautical products. He also served as Section Manager for the Programs and Procedures Section; established and managed the AIR Front Office Executive Support Branch; and managed the Strategic Policy Management Branch.

Joe Galushka

Joe Galushka is the Program Manager for Emerging Operations in the Office of Science and Technology Integration at the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center for Advanced Aerospace. Joe is a recognized human-systems integration professional with over 35 years’ experience evolving and refining mission-critical aviation systems within DoD, industry, and FAA. In his current capacity, he leads a multi-disciplinary team of FAA technical professionals and experts who conduct AAM research and testing to support the safe integration of AAM in the NAS. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University in Industrial Psychology and a Master’s degree in Human Factors Applied Behavioral Science from Wright State University.

John Forristal is the Senior Manager of Public Affairs and Regulatory Strategy for Lilium, developer of the world’s first electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) jet. In this role, John is leading Lilium’s engagement with government stakeholders across the Americas.
Prior to joining Lilium in 2024, John was a Manager in Deloitte Consulting’s Strategy practice focused on transportation and economic development. John holds an MBA from the University of Oxford and a BA in Political Science from Marquette University. He lives in Washington, DC.

Katarina Schnorbus is the Government Affairs Manager at Wisk. In this position, she leads the development and execution of strategies to shape legislation with a focus on autonomy and its safe integration into the National Airspace System (NAS).
Katarina obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Affairs and Media Studies from the University of Virginia. Prior to Wisk, Katarina was Director of Legislative Affairs at the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) concentrating on civil aviation; and as a Legislative Assistant for Congressman Ron Estes who represents Wichita, the "Air Capital of the World."

Kristen Costello

Kristen Costello

Kristen Costello is a member of BETA’s Public Affairs Team, working with various internal departments to coordinate and develop BETA’s regulatory position on matters relevant to the success of the business and convey that position to key external stakeholders at the FAA and DOT. Prior to joining BETA, Kristen worked in part 135 operations management and was most recently VP of Safety and Compliance for a UAS company that specialized in drone delivery operations. Earlier in her career she served as a flight instructor in a part 141 training school and as a corporate pilot flying part 91 and 135 operations. Kristen holds a B.S. in Aeronautical Technology; Professional Pilot, and a Minor in Aviation Safety from Kansas State University. She holds an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate and two type ratings (CE560XL, CE525). Kristen also holds Certified Flight Instructor, Certified Flight Instructor - Instrument Ratings (CFI, CFII), and a part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.

Lieutenant Kamryn Koesters

Lieutenant Kamryn Koesters is a test engineer at Edwards Air Force Base supporting the Air Force Research Laboratory's Advanced Air Mobility initiative. She is responsible for integrating eVTOL contractor test efforts into the base test review and approval process. Additionally, Lieutenant Koesters works with multiple military organizations to develop tests that explore the military utility of electric aircraft. She graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering.

Ludovic Aron

Representative to the U.S.A., EASA
Ludovic Aron

Ludovic is the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) representative in the United States of America, based in Washington D.C. He has over 20 years of experience in aircraft design engineering and certification. After his military service in the French Navy, he joined Dassault-Aviation, working as an aircraft systems engineer, first in the Military Customer Support division and then in the Business Jets division. After 10 years, Ludovic joined a brand-new French airplane maker, Sky Aircraft (GECI Aviation Group), as Head of Aircraft Systems. In 2013, Ludovic came to the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and soon after he was appointed Head of the Business Aeroplanes Certification. Thereafter he became Head of the Large Aeroplanes Certification, in charge of the European certification of the most modern airliners. He held this position for about 5 years and was namely responsible for the return to service of the B737 Max in Europe after its worldwide grounding in March 2019.

Ludovic holds a master’s degree in aeronautical and aerospace engineering, with a focus on Space-based Telecommunications, that he obtained after studying both at the Institut Supérieur de l’Aéronautique et de l’Espace - ISAE-SUPAERO (Toulouse, France) and at the Technische Universität München - TUM (Munich, Germany).

Melissa McCaffrey

Melissa McCaffrey is Archer’s Head of Government Affairs. In this role, she leads Archer’s government relations and policy efforts that support advanced air mobility at all levels of government. Prior to joining Archer, Melissa led Overair’s Government Affairs division, where she developed and executed strategies to engage with governments globally. Before Overair, Melissa spent over 10 years at the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the world’s largest aviation association, where she held positions of increasing responsibility over her tenure. Her last role focused on managing government affairs policy and advocacy. Mrs. McCaffrey holds a B.S. in Air Traffic Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and has been a licensed pilot for over 20 years.

Michelle Whitcher

Ms. Michelle Whitcher, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) NextGen Policy and Requirements Branch team member, oversees the FAA initiative to develop policies and processes needed to evaluate and approve Third Party Weather Providers (3PWPs) and the data they provide to be approved to a level equivalent to “approved by the Administrator”. This program will allow new entrants, traditional and non-traditional aviation users to obtain weather information needed for flight planning and operations. She oversees the research program that models microscale weather within urban-suburban areas and translates weather sensitivities that may be pertinent to UAS/AAM operations. Michelle’s background spans a career serving in the United States Air Force; senior systems analyst positions with SAIC and GDIT and is currently in the Federal Aviation Administration. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), a Master of Science in Management Information Systems from Bowie State, and a Master of Science in Aerospace Management from ERAU.

As manager (A) of NextGen’s New Entrants Strategy & Integration Branch, Mitchell leads Research and Development (R&D) programs that help modernize the National Airspace System (NAS) while improving its safety and efficiency. He currently leads the integration of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) through the Innovate28 program which aims to operationalize AAM at one or more sites by 2028. Previously, Mitchell has led a wide array of programs including Performance Based Navigation (PBN) Initiatives such as Established on Required Navigation Performance (EoR) and Multiple Airport Route Separation (MARS), as well as the standardization effort for Remote Towers.

With experience in leading the development of new aviation technologies spanning communications, navigation, surveillance, and information sharing, Mitchell prides himself in driving concepts from their early stages all the way to implementation.

Nancy Mendonca

Nancy Mendonca is NASA’s acting mission integration manager for the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) mission in the Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate (ARMD). She is responsible for long-range strategic planning, as well as coordination of projects, supporting AAM across ARMD’s programs and with industry, academia, and national/international government agencies. She supports the objective of promoting flexibility and agility while fostering AAM mission success and to promote teamwork across ARMD projects contributing to the AAM mission.
Mendonca previously served as a deputy in the AAM Mission Integration Office (AMIO), where she assisted in the integration of ARMD’s AAM efforts across the four ARMD programs and with the AAM ecosystem. Prior to this, she served as portfolio manager of ARMD’s Portfolio Analysis and Management Office, where she was responsible for overseeing the formulation of ARMD’s new projects within its research portfolio. Mendonca also served as technical integration manager for ARMD’s Joint Planning and Development Office and the Airspace Operations and Safety Program.
Prior to her career with NASA, Mendonca served 24 years in the U.S. Navy flying H-46 helicopters, followed by working at the Missile Defense Agency and the National Telecommunications and Information Agency, where she led and managed research programs and projects and maintained relationships with various government and industry stakeholders.
She graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering, and subsequently earned a Master of Science in Aeronautical Engineering and a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies. She is also a Certified Public Accountant and holds rotary and fixed-wing pilot licenses.

Tracy Tynan is the Director for the Unmanned Systems Center at the Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation with the goal of growing all aspects of Advanced Air Mobility within the Commonwealth. Prior to joining VIPC, she worked for 20 years within Virginia’s economic development community at both the state and regional levels working high profile corporate headquarters and aerospace projects. Previously, Ms. Tynan held several positions within commercial airlines which included Japan’s All Nippon Airways and gained entrepreneurial experience as part of the start-up teams for People Express, Presidential and Jet Aspen airlines. A graduate of the University of Virginia, Tracy earned her B.S. in Education while being the University’s top competitive diver and multiple record holder on the Swimming and Diving Team.

Will Hutson is an avid aviation enthusiast with over 15 years of air traffic control experience. He has worked at multiple FAA facilities, including Houston Air Route Traffic Control Center, George Bush Intercontinental Tower, and Denver Tower. He started flying when he was 15 years old and received his private pilot’s license and instrument flight rating shortly thereafter.
Will graduated with a bachelor's degree in Air Traffic Management from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and currently serves as the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) representative for the National Air Traffic Controllers Association.

Yolanka Wulff is Executive Director of CAMI, the Community Air Mobility Initiative, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to support the responsible and sustainable integration of aviation into community transportation through education, communication, and collaboration. Yolanka is responsible for CAMI’s programs including the development of topical resources, webinars, conferences, and collaborations. This includes the Urban Air Policy Collaborative, a cohort-based curriculum for state and local agencies and airports. Prior to co-founding CAMI in 2019, she was a sustainable aviation consultant for ten years, working with industry, government, academia and nonprofits on policy, standards, industry development, market challenges, and communications. Yolanka is a member of the FAA’s Advanced Aviation Advisory Committee (AAAC), the Transportation Research Board New Users of Shared Airspace Committee, the GAMA Electric Propulsion Innovation Committee, the Vertical Flight Society Board of Directors, and is the organizer and convener of the annual VFS Electric Aircraft Symposium. She is a nonprofit and business attorney and consultant with over two decades of experience in the successful development, implementation, and management of mission-driven programs, with a focus on sustainable transportation, land use, and collaborative solutions.

    WHAT IS CPD?

    CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development’. It is essentially a philosophy, which maintains that in order to be effective, learning should be organised and structured. The most common definition is:

    ‘A commitment to structured skills and knowledge enhancement for Personal or Professional competence’

    CPD is a common requirement of individual membership with professional bodies and Institutes. Increasingly, employers also expect their staff to undertake regular CPD activities.

    Undertaken over a period of time, CPD ensures that educational qualifications do not become obsolete, and allows for best practice and professional standards to be upheld.

    CPD can be undertaken through a variety of learning activities including instructor led training courses, seminars and conferences, e:learning modules or structured reading.

    CPD AND PROFESSIONAL INSTITUTES

    There are approximately 470 institutes in the UK across all industry sectors, with a collective membership of circa 4 million professionals, and they all expect their members to undertake CPD.

    For some institutes undertaking CPD is mandatory e.g. accountancy and law, and linked to a licence to practice, for others it’s obligatory. By ensuring that their members undertake CPD, the professional bodies seek to ensure that professional standards, legislative awareness and ethical practices are maintained.

    CPD Schemes often run over the period of a year and the institutes generally provide online tools for their members to record and reflect on their CPD activities.

    TYPICAL CPD SCHEMES AND RECORDING OF CPD (CPD points and hours)

    Professional bodies and Institutes CPD schemes are either structured as ‘Input’ or ‘Output’ based.

    ‘Input’ based schemes list a precise number of CPD hours that individuals must achieve within a given time period. These schemes can also use different ‘currencies’ such as points, merits, units or credits, where an individual must accumulate the number required. These currencies are usually based on time i.e. 1 CPD point = 1 hour of learning.

    ‘Output’ based schemes are learner centred. They require individuals to set learning goals that align to professional competencies, or personal development objectives. These schemes also list different ways to achieve the learning goals e.g. training courses, seminars or e:learning, which enables an individual to complete their CPD through their preferred mode of learning.

    The majority of Input and Output based schemes actively encourage individuals to seek appropriate CPD activities independently.

    As a formal provider of CPD certified activities, SAE Media Group can provide an indication of the learning benefit gained and the typical completion. However, it is ultimately the responsibility of the delegate to evaluate their learning, and record it correctly in line with their professional body’s or employers requirements.

    Increasingly, international and emerging markets are ‘professionalising’ their workforces and looking to the UK to benchmark educational standards. The undertaking of CPD is now increasingly expected of any individual employed within today’s global marketplace.
