Beth Ann is a national and international speaker and guest lecturer on trade compliance, has served on numerous government trade advisory committees and has supported numerous U.S. delegations working with foreign governments on export controls.

 
Ms. Johnson holds a B.A. degree in Public Policy from Eisenhower, Rochester Institute of Technology, an M.B.A. degree from the American Graduate School of International Management and a Certificate in Global Management from INSEAD. She currently lives Easton, MD.

Bill Wade

 William Wade (Bill) is the Vice President of Global Trade Compliance in the Washington, DC area. 

 
Bill is a retired Lt. Colonel from the United States Army with more than thirty years of military and civilian experience. His expertise is in export/import compliance and policy, along with extensive knowledge of The International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export 
Administration Regulation (EAR) and Security Assistance Manual (SAM). He brings to the table his experience with private industry and with government perspectives in mind. Bill provides focused guidance, training and assistance regarding company export and compliance matters. 
 
Bill’s mission is to teach others to provide compliant, customer focused Trade Control service to customers to ensure timely support of International business. Bill believes it is imperative as a Trade Practitioner to understand what is in your “tool box” and then study and improve and utilize each tool for optimum compliance and customer service which includes, but not limited to, your company’s product, regulations, policy, training and your experience. Bill is the L3HARRIS lead for the Global Trade Group (GTG) serving as lead Empowered Official. He serves as a Member of International Council, Aerospace Industries Association (AIA); He is the immediate past Chair of the Defense Trade Advisory Group (DTAG), Federal Advisory Council to the U.S. Department of State and served on the DTAG for over 10 years. Bill also serves on the Council for L3HARRIS’s Diversity and Inclusion as the Executive Sponsor the L3HARRIS AARG. 
 
Prior to L3HARRIS Technologies, Bill worked at Raytheon and at Boeing. At Raytheon, he was a Senior Director providing advice and counsel to senior management in establishing direction, 
strategy and policy along with developing a training and curriculum map to increase employee and staff career development. He served as the Lead for Export and Import (EX/IM) Operation, while enabling Subject Matter Expert (SME) guidance to personnel on export/import issues and trained personnel and license stakeholders in EX/IM. Bill is a “proven” leader – excelling in problem solving and team building skills. While serving in the Army he had 18 years of aviation experience, worked with systems integration, management of technical personnel, development of acquisition strategies and extensive work with contracting and procurement budget analysis. 
 
He is a graduate of the Wharton School of Executive Leadership and Development. Bill is a Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. C. Edward Peartree

 Ed serves as Group Head of Export Control at BAE Systems, plc.  In this role he has overall responsibility for delivery of functional strategy and setting Company-wide standards for compliance with global trade control laws and regulations (excluding the activities of BAE Systems Inc.), as well as managing stakeholder relationships relating to export control and sanctions.  Prior to joining BAE Systems, Ed was Director of the Office of Defense Trade Controls Policy at the United States Department of State where he oversaw the development of regulations and policies governing the export of defense articles and services, the commodity jurisdiction and classification process, license screening and risk analysis, and the global end-use monitoring program (“Blue Lantern”) for U.S. arms exports.  He also led engagement with foreign partners and allies on bilateral and multilateral defense trade matters, including U.S.-UK and U.S.-Australia Defense Trade Cooperation Treaties, and the U.S. - EU COARM dialogue. Ed began his 20 years of service within the U.S. Government as a Presidential Management Fellow and held positions as a senior advisor and manager involved in defense trade, defense policy analysis, weapons counter-proliferation, and arms control.  He began his professional career as a Research Associate in Political-Military Studies at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C., and also served as an analyst in the Office of Net Assessment at the U.S. Department of Defense.  He is a distinguished graduate of National Defense University and holds an M.A. from George Washington University’s Elliot School of International Affairs and a B.A. from Johns Hopkins University.

In that role, she provides regulatory guidance & training to Leonardo SpA, parent company, and for all US & international affiliates. She has been invol ved in international trade compliance for over 19 years working in the areas of aerospace, satellite, and missile technology. Prior to joining Leonardo DRS, she worked in various trade compliance roles for defense contractors such as Orbital Sciences, International Launch Services, and Lockheed Martin.
Ms. Fellows previously served as a board member for Society for International Affairs (SIA). She recently received her Executive Masters in International Trade Compliance from the University Liverpool (UK).

 Eric Longnecker is the Director of the Office of Strategic Industries and Economic Security (SIES) in the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) at the U.S. Department of Commerce.  In this capacity, Mr. Longnecker is a member of the Senior Executive Service and leads three divisions that are responsible for national security programs that encompass various authorities under the Defense Production Act (DPA), reviews of foreign investments, and the licensing, policy, and compliance for less sensitive military items under the Export Administration Regulations.  Mr. Longnecker has been when BIS since 2004 in various roles related to export controls and defense industrial base issues.

 Giampaolo Delbuono is part of the Leonardo S.p.A. – Aircraft Division Trade Compliance, 

former Finmeccanica S.p.A. and before former Alenia Aermacchi S.p.A. He is responsible for 
foreign licensing, with specific focus on US Import/Export laws and regulations. Prior to joining the Trade Compliance Department, he held the position of Head of Joint Strike Fighter Sustainment & Technology Transfer for Alenia Aermacchi. In this position, Giampaolo was 
responsible, among other things, for assisting and facilitating the export and import compliance process for the JSF Program.
 
Prior to be Head of JSF Sustainment & Technology Transfer, Giampaolo worked for a number of years in US at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company and before that at Boeing in a number of positions of increasing responsibilities within the System/Software Development Teams and 
Technology Transfer.
 
Giampaolo began his career in the aerospace arena as a Software Safety Critical Engineer 
followed by serving for 2 years as the Deputy Program Manager for a collaborative European 
Community sponsored research project, Aerospace Intelligent Management and development environment for embedded Systems (AIMS). 
 
Giampaolo received his Bachelor degree in Physics from Turin University (Italy) in 1985.

The team furthermore administers certain sanctions. Morten comes from a different position at the Danish Business Authority, where he worked with screening of Foreign Direct Investments.

Nancy Fischer leads the law firm's Public Practices and Public Policy teams and is recognized as an authority on international trade law.

 
Nancy advises a global clientele on international trade matters and dispute resolution and the impact of U.S. regulations on worldwide trade and investments. She provides guidance on export controls; economic sanctions; CFIUS reviews; FCPA and other anti-bribery laws; trade remedies; customs laws; and WTO and NAFTA disputes. Nancy has represented large industry coalitions in disputes, including a group of nuclear utilities in the first antidumping matter before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Philip Griffiths has headed the Wassenaar Arrangement (WA) Secretariat since June 2012. His prior career in the New Zealand foreign service included assignments as Ambassador to Austria/Permanent Representative to the International Organisations in Vienna, Ambassador to Poland (2004-08), other postings in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, as well as senior positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Wellington.
 

The Wassenaar Arrangement (WA) is an intergovernmental information-sharing and standard-setting forum. Its 42 Participating States promote transparency and responsibility in transfers of conventional arms and dual-use goods and technologies, thus preventing destabilising accumulations, as well as their acquisition by terrorists. They work closely with one another and with their respective industries in developing and maintaining the WA Munitions and Dual-Use Lists as a basis for national export licensing decisions. The WA's work is increasingly recognised as an international standard in this sector.

Robert Hart

Rob Hart is the Division Chief for the Regulatory and Multilateral Affairs (RMA) division, in the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls ("DDTC") Office of Defense Trade Control Policy ("DTCP"). He manages the team responsible for maintaining and revising the International Traffic in Arms Regulations ("ITAR") and providing formal interpretive guidance on the meaning of the regulations. Mr. Hart has been with DDTC since 2011 and has been responsible for drafting or overseeing the development of numerous revisions to the ITAR, and was one of the principal regulatory drafters during the President's Export Control Reform initiative.

Rosa Rosanelli

Rosa Rosanelli is currently Vice President, Head of Compliance for Patria Group, an international provider of defense, security and aviation life cycle support services, pilot training and technology solutions.

A Lawyer specialized in export controls, Rosa has analyzed and actively contributed to the resolution of legal and compliance issues within several European defense companies, including foreign affiliates of US companies. Author of a Handbook on export controls and a report for the Italian Senate, she has held trainings for EU Commission Officials on ITAR and has participated to training efforts for the benefit of third governments’ officials on strategic trade controls, in cooperation with the Joint Research Center of the European Commission.

Member of several groups of experts, including the Export Control Committee of the European Aerospace and Defense Industry Association, ASD, she is author of several legal publications, and a member of the editorial board of the “Strategic Trade Review”, a peer-reviewed specialized review on export controls and sanctions. Rosa is lecturer on “Export Control, Procurements and Lobbying” for the MBA on Security, Defense and Space Industries, IAE Nice Graduate School of Management, Université Côte d’Azur.

Rosa is also Project Lead for the “Trade Compliance Project”, a joint cooperation between Patria and Kongsberg Groups.
 

Shainila Pradhan

Shainila Pradhan

 Shainila Pradhan is the Director, Export Control in DIT. Her responsibilities consist of the oversight of the Export Control Joint Unit (ECJU) which is the UK licensing authority for strategic exports, the implementation of a new digital platform for ECJU casework and a wider transformation programme for ECJU.

Prior to joining DIT, Shainila has spent much of her career in the Home Office leading work on UK Homeland Security. She has served as CEO of the Office for Communications Data Authorisations and the Head of Home Office Security and Cluster 2 Security.  Her civil service career has also included work on civil contingencies, better regulation and private office. She joined the civil service after starting her career in the private sector in financial services. 

She has a B.Comm from McGill University (Montreal, PQ) and an MSc. from the London School of Economics.

Shuji Yuge

 Shuji Yuge joined the Japan Defense Agency (currently, Ministry of Defense(MOD)) in 1993. His recent assignments include the position of counsellor at the Japanese Embassy in Australia in charge of Japan-Australia defense cooperation, director of the International Policy Division at MOD and director of the Equipment Policy Division at the Acquisition Technology and Logistics Agency(ATLA). He has been seconded to the Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry(METI) from July 2021 to his current position. 

He received his Bachelor of Arts in law and economics from Keio University and Master of Public Administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.

    WHAT IS CPD?

    CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development’. It is essentially a philosophy, which maintains that in order to be effective, learning should be organised and structured. The most common definition is:

    ‘A commitment to structured skills and knowledge enhancement for Personal or Professional competence’

    CPD is a common requirement of individual membership with professional bodies and Institutes. Increasingly, employers also expect their staff to undertake regular CPD activities.

    Undertaken over a period of time, CPD ensures that educational qualifications do not become obsolete, and allows for best practice and professional standards to be upheld.

    CPD can be undertaken through a variety of learning activities including instructor led training courses, seminars and conferences, e:learning modules or structured reading.

    CPD AND PROFESSIONAL INSTITUTES

    There are approximately 470 institutes in the UK across all industry sectors, with a collective membership of circa 4 million professionals, and they all expect their members to undertake CPD.

    For some institutes undertaking CPD is mandatory e.g. accountancy and law, and linked to a licence to practice, for others it’s obligatory. By ensuring that their members undertake CPD, the professional bodies seek to ensure that professional standards, legislative awareness and ethical practices are maintained.

    CPD Schemes often run over the period of a year and the institutes generally provide online tools for their members to record and reflect on their CPD activities.

    TYPICAL CPD SCHEMES AND RECORDING OF CPD (CPD points and hours)

    Professional bodies and Institutes CPD schemes are either structured as ‘Input’ or ‘Output’ based.

    ‘Input’ based schemes list a precise number of CPD hours that individuals must achieve within a given time period. These schemes can also use different ‘currencies’ such as points, merits, units or credits, where an individual must accumulate the number required. These currencies are usually based on time i.e. 1 CPD point = 1 hour of learning.

    ‘Output’ based schemes are learner centred. They require individuals to set learning goals that align to professional competencies, or personal development objectives. These schemes also list different ways to achieve the learning goals e.g. training courses, seminars or e:learning, which enables an individual to complete their CPD through their preferred mode of learning.

    The majority of Input and Output based schemes actively encourage individuals to seek appropriate CPD activities independently.

    As a formal provider of CPD certified activities, SAE Media Group can provide an indication of the learning benefit gained and the typical completion. However, it is ultimately the responsibility of the delegate to evaluate their learning, and record it correctly in line with their professional body’s or employers requirements.
